Cannabis has been known and used since the dawn of time. After having been demonized for a long time by the medical field for its psychotropic effects, it is today less and less controversial. Indeed, in addition to the legal hemp cultivated for industrial purposes (textile, insulation …), it is increasingly studied in consumption for its beneficial properties.

This marginalized plant actually has several cannabinoid molecules (derived from the name “cannabis”) and they do not have the same effects on an individual’s physiology. The 2 most known cannabinoid active substances are THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) and each one of them has respectively different action spectra in spite of sometimes their complementarity. While they are found in all parts of the hemp plant, their optimal concentrations are mainly in the cannabis flowers. In France, only the CBD molecule is legal. We will be interested in this substance in this chapter in order to know how to consume a CBD flower.

The different parts of cannabis

The term hemp or cannabis is often differentiated by their users.

But, in reality, it is its use that is at issue. Indeed, it is the same plant. It has many virtues and each of its parts have their own specificity. There are 4 ways to cut a hemp plant:

  • its seeds, stems, leaves and flowers.

Hemp seeds

Hemp seeds are completely legal in France. Devoid of THC, they can be used for different reasons:

  • The most obvious: in cultivation, in order to obtain a new cannabis plant.
  • They can also be eaten for their nutritional properties. Roasted or plain, cannabis seeds are an excellent source of proteins, amino acids and vitamins for the human or animal body.
  • Finally, once transformed into oil, these hemp seeds are used in industry as fuel, paint, lubricant and cosmetics.

Cannabis stems

Cannabis stems are very fibrous. This characteristic gives them an important place in the industry. Stronger and less capricious in water, they are an excellent substitute for cotton. Long used in the textile industry (yarn, paper), they are now widely used in the construction industry (thermal insulation, hemp bricks…).

Until the explosion of CBD consumption, only these 2 parts of hemp (seeds and stems) were considered legal in France for their low (or even zero) THC content.

Cannabis flowers and leaves

The leaves and

the flowers of cannabis

are still classified as narcotic parts:

  • They have the highest level of cannabinoids and therefore of THC.

Their use has long been induced for the psychotropic effect of this molecule. If it is common to assimilate drug and cannabis consumption, it is indeed flowers and leaves that are involved!

But, in recent years, the use of hemp is changing and becoming emancipated. Indeed, if the side effects of THC are still current and sought after by some people, CBD is not left behind. It is a real success for its relaxing virtues.

The content of CBD is more important in the flower than in the leaves. It is thus this part of the plant which will be used most in the products with CBD. Moreover, the taste and the smell so particular and bewitching of the heads of CBD confer them true culinary promises.

Legislation of CBD flowers

As mentioned above, in France, the hemp flower is considered a narcotic. It is the plant part where the THC content is the most important in cannabis. As a result, its use and marketing have long been prohibited.

While strolling on the net and sometimes even in some cities of France, it is not rare to come across

shop CBD

putting in window their flowers. It is therefore relevant to recall here what the European legislation says on this subject:

  • According to the European Commission, to be legal, a product containing CBD must not contain THC (or little).
  • Each European country will have to set its own tolerance threshold.
  • In France, only

    Hemp varieties

that have a THC level lower than 0.2% are authorized for sale.
  • CBD is legal so its concentration is not limited.

It is on this law that the

CBD stores

are based on. Their CBD flowers are therefore derived from these legal hemp varieties.

How to consume the CBD flower?

Hemp flowers can be consumed in different ways:

The infusion or herbal tea of CBD flowers

To make a good flower infusion, you need :

  • finely chop the cannabis head
  • put in a pan with cold water (the amount is up to the consumer)
  • bring to a boilCBD, cannabis light is present in the lives of many people in France and Lille
  • let the mixture boil for about ten minutes
  • filter the mixture
  • drink as a classic infusion.

The fat helps the assimilation of CBD by the body. It is then advisable to add whole milk, cream or CBD oil to the tea.

Eating a CBD flower

It is quite possible to eat a cannabis flower:

  • as a condiment on a dish or dessert
  • in the form ofCBD butter:Marrakech butter

This butter is a very easy recipe based on cannabis flowers. It can be kept in the refrigerator and used for several preparations:

cannabis cake

  • cakes, pasta, on toast and all other uses of classic butter.

CBD oil can also be used in the same way as butter. On the other hand, it is more difficult to do at home!

Smoking a CBD flower: the opinions

Like a traditional marijuana cigarette, CBD flowers, while prohibited to be smoked, can be diverted from their intended use.

This method is very useful for weed smokers. Indeed, it allows a kind of psychological withdrawal from the real joint. The consumer finds the same taste, the same smell and the relaxing effect of his usual “pedo”. But, with the side effects of THC in less.

In spite of the combustion which remains harmful for the health, the joint of CBD is all the same a good alternative to begin a withdrawal carefully.

CBD Flower Vaporizer

Vaporization allows you to inhale cannabis vapors and products without combustion. This absorption method is not to be confused with vaping which uses special liquid for electronic cigarettes.

The vaporizers allow to regulate the heating temperature. Thus, they allow the heat to be adapted to the relative humidity of each variety of CBD hemp flowers. This results in an optimization of the extraction of cannabinoids.

How to consume CBD flowers without smoking them?

Some CBD lovers do not prefer to absorb the flowers directly (smoking, inhaling, eating…). Let them reassure themselves, there are other methods to consume them. However, the effects of the flowers will be less!

The CBD flower medley

If the smell of the CBD flower is pleasant, this method of absorption

of CBD is really obsolete. Indeed, it would really take a lot of CBD heads in a humid room to feel a subtle relaxing effect.

This type of product is however found in some CBD shops. But, let’s be honest, it’s basically to be within the legal bounds! Especially since the exposure of the inflorescences to the open air and to light accelerates the degradation of the active molecules.

CBD bath flowers

A few cannabis flowers can be added to a hot bath to a hot bath in order to optimize this moment of relaxation. However, the effect of CBD will be less in comparison to other uses.

Some modes of consumption of

CBD flowers

(cannabidiol) significantly optimize the benefits of this molecule: vaporization, oil, CBD resin… When others, can just accompany the daily dose homeopathic: tea, bath …

In any case, these inflorescences so appreciated can be consumed easily and according to the tastes and the expectations of result of each one.
