Cannabis is generally a dioecious plant, which means that it is found in the form of female or male plants. The flowers of hemp allow to distinguish very clearly the sex of the plant because they are very different:
- male flowers: numerous and grouped in panicles (cluster of clusters)
- Female flowers: grouped in compact racemes (clusters) at the apex of the central stem and branches and at the level of the internodes. Their size varies according to their location on the plant, the variety of hemp, the environmental conditions and their maturity.
